Infrastructure for reducing environmental impact

Key deliverables are:

• Identification of synergetic methods to obtain similar functionality from plant without the need for SF6
• Strategies for optimising power flow in a transmission system utilising existing plant infrastructure
• Identification of possible improvements to plant that will allow higher power flows through existing lines
• Identification of insulation to replace or modify conventional insulation, lessen environmental damage and permit recycling

Activities are

Activity 4.1 Investigate alternative methodologies to enable reduced use, or the replacement of SF6 in electrical plant

Activity 4.2 Explore new opportunities to improve the efficiency of power transmission through existing overhead line infrastructure

Activity 4.3 Investigate options for reducing the environmental impact of underground cable
